VOICE OF THE APPALACHIAN CONFERENCE OF THE IPHC
“A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.”
PRESTON MATHENA
The Passing of the Batonand enter into a more evangelistic ministry. I knew that a pastoral change could be a dropped or mishandled, it would be critical to the outcome. That transition moment was just as important as speed and stamina. As a transitioning pastor, I realize that in my case, the baton was the ministry. The ministry was being handed off to the next runner (pastor), and the transition had to be smooth for the good of the ministry and the church body. I wanted to hand off the baton to a runner that I had trained and practiced ministry with.successor. I shared with my associate my vision for him and the future of the church. Then I set the plan into motion. For the next two years, I prepared him to take my place. I don’t think any pastor enjoys sharing with his people his plan for departure. It’s a lot easier to keep our options open until the last moment. I realized if I was going to do what was best focused on the coming change, a new day, a new vision, a new style and a new shepherd – all ordained and anointed by God. I began to share with the congregation the importance of embracing God’s man for the next leg of the race. The church needed to see that I believed in this man. I became an agent of change for my successor. I even preached At this point, I was not only the outgoing pastor, but I had to shepherd the sheep through the transition. You don’t want to slow down the next runner, so you make a good handoff of the baton. You make him look good in the eyes of the spectators. You will complete the transition by could use my inuence to help get off the ground before handing him the baton. I wanted him to hit the ground running. And he did. On August 9, 2015, Bishop Mathena conducted a smooth transition service. That morning I welcomed the people as their pastor. The same morning my successor dismissed the people as their new senior pastor – all in one day. That was almost two years ago, and the church is still growing. To God be the glory!– Submitted by J. Frank Neff, Jr., Executive Council Secretary-Treasurer

His Precious WIN SPRING PRAYER FESTIVAL
NEW MEN’S MINISTRIES DIRECTORHis presence is of much greater value than money! For example, Peter and John prayed for the lame man at the gate of the temple called Beautiful. He was begging for money. But these disciples said: “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have give I thee; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6).The powerful presence of God was poured out, and the legs of the lame man came to life!MARKED BY THE PRESENCE OF GOD – This WIN Prayer Festival was bathed in the PRESENCE OF GOD. Pastor Stacy Cope opened the service with prayer. Then the Tower of Refuge music team ministered with worship songs. Even during the worship time, the precious Presence began to manifest. There was such a brightness and a peace!Carlos & Nuria Bolanos were the speakers. Power owing from a heartfelt prayer was one theme. Everyone who asked for prayer received a true blessing. Several people lingered at the altar, enjoying His presence.THY KINGDOM COME – The Lord’s Prayer invites His presence by praying, “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done” (Matt. 6:10). The Kingdom of God is righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Ghost (Rom. 14:17). By praying this prayer, the intercessor can experience joy and peace and satisfaction. God’s presence will be very real and welcomed. The will of God is to bring LIFE. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10, NKJV).IT IS TIME – It is time for you to experience the Precious Presence. Just simply ask for His Kingdom to come and His Will to be done. There is an invitation for you to experience His Presence!
